STEP 2: PARTY!

Now that everything is prepared for your party, it's time for some food and games! Plan some fun pool party games to keep kids involved during your get-together. Since they will be hopping in and out of the pool, focus on water games that are enjoyable for everyone.

Music

One of the best ways to create a fun and festive atmosphere at a pool party is to add music! Create a beachy playlist that includes songs by the Beach Boys as well as pool party classics like "Splish Splash" by Bobby Darin and "Summer Nights" from Grease. Alternatively, create a playlist suited to your party theme.

Background music can add to your party's ambience. You want everyone to be able to chat without having to yell, so make sure the music isn't too loud. You can even use the Spotify app and create a station with fun pool party music!

Food

Swimming and playing in the pool will definitely leave your guests hungry for snacks! Plan a menu full of staple pool party foods like popsicles, watermelon slices, chips, guacamole, and pretzels. If you want to provide more than just snacks, fire up the BBQ and grill some burgers and hot dogs.

Drinks

Creative treats are always a hit with guests! With the hot summer sun, you'll also need to provide delicious refreshments, like this sparkling raspberry lemonade. If you are interested in serving alcohol at your pool party, try this tropical rum punch recipe for another way to cool off.

Remember, the combination of alcohol and water recreation can be dangerous, so stay safe. Never drink before going in the pool or during your time in the pool. Don't let guests drive home if they've been drinking. Call your local cab company or Uber at the end of the night to make sure everyone gets home safely.

Games

Plan some fun pool party games to keep kids involved during your get-together. Since they will be hopping in and out of the pool, focus on water games that are enjoyable for everyone. Some fun pool party games are marco polo, dolphins and sharks, treasure hunt, and volleyball.

Here is a complete list of fun games the whole group can enjoy, along with instructions. It is also a good idea to have some fun pool accessories, such as floats, rings, noodles, and beach balls.

GET READY TO PARTY!

The moment we've all been waiting for... party time! Once you make sure the pool is clean, games are prepared, snacks are out, drinks are made, and the music is playing, it's time to party! So fire up the grill and ice down the tropical punch - it's time to enjoy and relax!

Throwing a great pool party means preparing ahead so you have some time to relax and enjoy the fun!
